In Japan, I often woke up early to witness the first sunrise of the year. This experience is deeply significant in Japanese culture, as many people flock to the best locations to observe it, with some even offering prayers.
This year, I was in Istanbul and decided to continue the tradition. I rose before dawn and made my way to the seaside to watch the first sunrise. Unlike Japan, the event wasn't particularly special here, with only a few early risers jogging nearby.
Initially, I didn't expect to see the sun, as I assumed the seaside faced west. To my pleasant surprise, I was mistaken. The sun suddenly emerged, illuminating the world with its bright and clear light.
Thank you!
I hope that 2023 brings well-being to us all.
(And I missed Japan!)
